042: A Social Media Strategy for Musicians

  • When deciding how many platforms you should be on, it is essential to know yourself, the amount of time that you have to devote to them, and how well you will be able to keep up with the workload
  • If you can connect with just a couple people per week, starting out, on a chosen platform, I could consider that a success
  • Batch your updates, so that you do almost all of them for an entire week, in one day. I like to use Buffer for this
  • Also, batch your interaction, by putting aside 5-10 minutes each day, to respond to everything that was commented on your material, then like and comment on other people's content
  • Consistency is the most important aspect of your social media strategy
  • Be real, in all of your interactions. Do not try to game the system
  • Because of social media, you are in control of your own destiny with the image that is put out of you and your work. So be purposeful and smart about what you do!
