There are a variety of reasons people quit homeschooling – some good, some not so good. These are my top five.

  1. Fear – This is never a good reason to do or not do something. What fears? Fear of failure, fear that you’re not a good teacher, fear that you’re kids aren’t learning anything, etc.
  2. Unrealistic Expectations – Really, who doesn’t have some of these? If you think your house is going to be a peaceful, clean, loving home at all hours of every day, you’re not thinking of homeschooling, you’re thinking of a Zoloft commercial.
  3. Lack of Support
  4. Changing Circumstances
  5. Child’s (or Parent’s) Desire
