After graduating from Michigan State University, Tom Griffith moved to Fruita, CO with his wife Kara and spent 8 years in public education. 

Their son, Arlo, was born in 2015, and less than a year later, in a fit of lunacy, he left teaching to take a dive into the specialty coffee world as owner of Bestslope Coffee Company.

 The shop opened in 2016, was awarded the Best Coffee Shop in the Rockies by Elevation Outdoors Magazine in both 2019 and 2020, and today continues to serve the good people of Western Colorado!
