In this chapter, Lyra and Will leave Sir Charles in Oxford, heading back into Cittigazze to try to find the mysterious knife that Charles wants so badly. As they arrive at the Tower of the Angels in the city, they carefully scout out how to get inside and soon notice a strange young man inside, behaving strangely, talking to himself and dancing around alone, slicing the knife through the air.
