Shame is one of the biggest stuck cycles that we're finding as we research STUCK. Shame can be defined as a feeling of embarrassment or humiliation that arises in relation to the perception of having done something dishonorable, immoral, or improper. According to the Scientific American, Shame is the uncomfortable sensation we feel in the pit of our stomach when it seems we have no safe haven from the judging gaze of others. We feel small and bad about ourselves and wish we could vanish. Although shame is a universal emotion, how it affects mental health and behavior is not self-evident.
Hear a few listener stories about shame today, and as always, walk away with some HOPE.
