One of my biggest complaints about my husband is that he is the least romantic person that I know. He's not a Valentine's Day kind of guy.
I'm always telling my husband, “You're not romantic. You don't do anything romantic for me.” But just before Valentine’s Day, he said to me, “I'd really like to do something romantic for you this Valentine's Day. What would you like?”
I did the double blink thing, because I realized in that moment something that I had not ever realized before – I didn’t know what I wanted. All of this time, I've been complaining about how my husband never did anything romantic for me, and yet, I didn't know what I wanted. It made me stop and think about all the other areas in my life where I don't have the things that I want. I realized that I spend so much time focused on what I don't have, or what isn't working, or what I don't like… and yet I never focus on or define exactly what it is that I do want. This realization made me realize three things that I'd like to share on why most people don't get what it is that they want.
