Have you ever thought “Things will slow down once this project at work is done,” or “I’ll clear up my calendar once I have a baby,” or at least heard the phrase “I’ll sleep when I’m dead?” All of these phrases imply that you’re waiting for a specific milestone to hit before you even think about taking steps to slow down and let go of some commitments you’re clinging to. We are so conditioned to be busy that we forget we don’t need a reason to slow down. In fact, slowing down now will allow us to actually enjoy those milestones when they come!
In this episode, Katie Welker is here to share how she’s been intentional about slowing down and leaving more white space on her calendar for peace. Katie is a 32-year-old newlywed, devoted dog mama and fraternal twin. After spending nearly a decade in Buffalo and Chicago, she’s currently living life out loud in her hometown of Rochester, N.Y. She has a career in corporate communications, a side business sharing her love for clean makeup and skincare, and spent nearly a decade as a high school cheerleading coach. An enthusiast for confidence, self-care and mental health, she creates a safe space for people to be their purest selves through her long standing blog, social media platforms and in person.

Welcome to the Wake Up Call Podcast with Alicia Hopkins (that’s me!). I work in corporate sales by day and am a personal development guru and Life Coach by night. My goal in this podcast is to share valuable and actionable tips on what I call the “Core Four” - mindfulness, movement, habits, and growth - so you can build a life that feels true to you. I will be interviewing people who have had a “wake up call” that their good-on-paper life wasn’t lighting them up, and what they did to change that.
