🔥[05-14] Leveraging edit tests and feedback in job applications

Listen Later

Jacob Wells:  I want to follow-up on strategies for a job interview and edit test.

  • Neutral feedback doesn’t mean you blew them away. It could just mean that there could be room where you could do more than what they asked for.
  • Look for opportunities where you can provide more value while the conversation is in waiting mode. Make your response to criticism and feedback  still part of your test.
  • Give them the absolute best version with the material that you’re given. If you have space and energy, show them the value that you’re bringing more than what they’re asking you.
  • Negotiating higher pay starts before salary discussions. The strongest leverage comes from demonstrating perspective, ownership, and editorial instincts nobody else brought into the room.
  • Imposter syndrome fades through repetition. You have to do it to know that you can do it by stepping into work before feeling fully ready.
