❓[05-27] How do you choose what to focus on when everything feels meaningful?

Listen Later

Selina: I’ve been reflecting on your newsletter and post in Substack, where you didn’t feel like writing but shared anyway, and also wrestling with having too many meaningful projects that all feel worth doing. When everything on your list feels aligned and meaningful, how do you decide which ones to let go of or focus on first?

  • I recently spoke with Oliver Burkeman in the podcast (and Greg McKeown 3 years ago) about how most people fill their days with non-essential distractions. The real shift is moving from that noise to a life filled with things that are meaningful and aligned with your values and goals.
  • Rather than aiming for work-life balance, work towards strategic imbalance.Choose the imbalance strategically that is in alignment with your values and your goals.
  • When deciding what to Focus on, go back to the 1st question of the GO FAR framework: “What do I want to achieve and why?”
  • Assign a timeline to that Goal, then ask, “What's stopping me from getting there?” Only then you ask the Focus question, “What do I need to prioritize next?” and “What's the one thing such that by doing it, everything becomes easier.”
