05: The One Things That's Needful (Part 5)
In today’s episode, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches delves deeper into the one thing that is needful, continuing this series. Dr. Funches first recaps what we learned last week, especially for those joining us for the first time. She encourages you to listen to each episode in this series if you have not heard them and have your Bible with you or take notes, as the scriptures are read. Dr. Funches recaps from previous episodes that this podcast has a divine purpose from God. She reviews what it means to be a New Covenant believer and establishes that we are under a New Covenant. The Old Covenant of Moses has been fulfilled for us by Jesus Christ. Dr. Funches reminds us that this New Covenant is a better covenant built on better promises as seen in the Word of God. Under this New Covenant that we are no longer doing works or abiding by the Law in order to receive the blessings of God. Jesus has done everything for us. As New Covenant believers, the only thing we have to do to receive the blessings of God is only believe. We learned that the faith to believe comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of Christ. We looked last week in the Bible at what getting at the feet of Jesus looks like. Jesus is the Word and the Word is God. Jesus is in every page of the Bible.
Dr. Funches brings additional scripture verses to our view this week, reminding us that we live by faith in Jesus, and in His Blood, which is shed for the remission of sins.
