Hello and welcome to another episode of Really Real Talk. This week my guest is Phee, owner of Positive Phee, which is a small business with big plans to shake up the way we consume fashion.
She’s all the way fresh from London and I’m so happy to have been connected with Phee! In this episode, we got to reminisce over our times working in luxury lingerie at Agent Provocateur. We talk about Phee’s fashion journey and how she realized that the way the industry is now isn’t what she wants to participate in. So of course we talk about giving up everything you’ve worked so hard towards, just to nix it all and move somewhere else to start completely a-new! It wouldn’t be an interview with a budding entrepreneur if we didn’t talk about all the sacrifice and risk that goes into such moves.
We talk about how we can take the industry out of the clutches of the white patriarchy (which is still running the fashion industry and for some reason telling us what is cool). How the industry is classist, and how Phee’s business fights all of those things by being an up-cycle, re-cycle local clothing shop.
Although many have lost jobs and dreams due to the *panoramic, it’s also birthed a slew of new small businesses that are waiting for your support in order to succeed. At the end of the tunnel, there is always light. After our recording, Phee and I brainstormed more on how to bring awareness to the positive, and the opportunities out there- when only the negative and the failures are being focused on right now. All the women I interview are a testament to making the best of any situation.
