There is no excuse not to pursue some form of training. A point of contention within Gun Culture remains the idea that self defense could be made unreachable by pricing prerequisites, such as tools or legal "permission" well beyond what people could acquire. On the one hand, this is a first world problem, and on the other, it raises a great ethical question on the actions of governments, corporations, and the soft authoritarianism of acquiescence.
