- Start with the end in mind even if it’s future collaboration with them. Don’t downplay what you’re capable of; long-term goals are valid even if they're years away.
- Open with an expert approach where you are the hero of the story and they are the guide. Transition in your mid game, closer to your end game where you can be valuable to them.
- Show you’ve done the homework. Reference specific work they’ve done and how you’re studying it.
- Stop overthinking and write your initial draft. Use the format from your previous outreach but align the story of where you are now that will give them enough information for useful advice.
