• Send casual, non-work messages on Friday around lunch when people are mentally checked out and open to light, engaging distractions. 
• For thoughtful, goal-oriented outreach, Tuesday at lunchtime tends to get the most attention and response.
• Go deeper in your value then identify where you can potentially be of value to them.
• Skip the mic-drop. You’re closer to where you can be helpful to them already.
• Keep your message focused. If you’re reconnecting, a brief personal note or inside joke belongs in a simple PS.
