The Rick Robinson Show

07-20-26 It Was Only an Exercise—Until the Shadow Government Spoke

Listen Later

In this episode of The Rick Robinson Show, Rick connects the dots between political “war games,” FBI election-security operations, January 6 intelligence failures, confidential human sources, Capitol security breakdowns, disputed testimony, and the institutions that later shaped the official narrative.

The show begins with the 2020 Transition Integrity Project and the 2024 Democracy Futures Project—exercises that explored disputed elections, coordinated institutional resistance, and responses to another Trump presidency. Rick then turns to former FBI election-security official Nikki Floris, her reported “shadow government” remark, and the recalled Albany intelligence report involving allegations of Chinese election interference.

Hour 2 examines the 26 FBI confidential human sources present in Washington around January 6, the bureau’s failure to conduct a nationwide pre-event source canvass, and whistleblower allegations that domestic-extremism cases were presented in ways that suggested a nationwide threat. Rick also revisits Nancy Pelosi’s recorded acknowledgment of Capitol security failures and the controversy surrounding Capitol Police agent David Lazarus’s testimony and surveillance footage.

The central question is not whether January 6 happened—it did—or whether crimes were committed—they were. The question is whether a real crisis became a political and institutional shield that prevented legitimate scrutiny of intelligence practices, informant activity, security decisions, witness credibility, and government accountability.

An exercise does not prove execution. It proves preparation. A source does not prove orchestration. It proves proximity. And an official narrative may contain truth without containing the whole truth.
