Today we have a very interesting guest Associate Professor Dr Matt Sharpe. Matt has an eclectic array of research interests. Increasingly, he works on classical philosophy and the early modern period, up to and including the French enlightenment. Matt is particularly interested in the history of Western receptions of its classical past, and the rich ethical legacy left by Stoic and academic schools in particular. It is the life of stoics that we deep dive into today. If you are not familiar with Stoic Philosophy than I am really excited for you, because we get unpack that, we talk about some key Stoic figures including Marcus Aurelius and Seneca the Younger. During the conversation we explore the current re-emergence of Stoicism and how this applies in a modern world. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation and I cannot wait to hear what your thoughts are. Matt was a fantastic guest and someone I could continually ask questions about Stoic history. If you enjoy history and philosophy you're going to enjoy this episode, enjoy.
