07. Addictions and Their Effects on Relationships

Listen Later

Corey Costanzo is the co-owner of Still Point Wellness, an award-winning spa based in Asheville, NC offering world-class services including Salt Water Floatation - also known as sensory deprivation - Esalen Massage, Cranial Sacral Therapy, and Somatic Psychology. Corey is a man of many talents and wears multiple hats. He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a special focus on Somatic Psychology and is a certified Esalen Massage and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. He is a licensed clinical addictions counselor, trauma and anxiety specialist, and mindfulness meditation teacher. Additionally, he is a music therapist as well as a talented didgeridoo player.

Corey joins me today to discuss how addictions affect relationships. He explains how couples can improve their relationship when an addiction is present and how to identify when an addiction becomes an issue. He also explains what non-addicted partners can do to help themselves in a relationship involving addiction and how insight and awareness can help addicted partners learn to make better choices and decisions that are aligned with their life goals.

“When there’s an addiction in the relationship, it’s almost as if there’s a third-party that’s in the relationship.” - Corey Costanzo
