Rachel Drake is an abstract golf artist — her commissioned golf paintings hang in homes of bucket-list trippers and daughters of major champions. Her journey to becoming an artist, though, and becoming a mother, was born from a stretch of unimaginable grief. One certainty is learned from this conversation with Rachel: when presented with loss, she has the unmistakable knack of creating. Rachel went to the golf course — alone — in 2020, to find solitude. It took. Now, her golf art accounts for a majority of her business; and she can paint Pebble Beach's 7th hole with her eyes closed (next step is seeing it in person).
