In this week’s Immigration Law for Tech Startups podcast, Anita Koumriqian, Partner at Alcorn Immigration Law, fills in this week for Sophie Alcorn. She is joined by Lanie Denslow, a cultural competence and business protocol consultant who founded World Wise Intercultural Training & Resources in 2000 to help professionals successfully navigate the cultural differences that emerge in today's complex, fast-moving and global business environment.
Today, learn about how culture shows up in people’s behavior and how you can build your cultural competence. One of those small cultural things that are easy to create are misunderstandings. You could end up insulting someone without you knowing it, or the other way around.
Cultural competence is about understanding that there are different cultures and that behaviors are influenced by culture, which hopefully leads to a better understanding of other people’s cultures. As a result, you’re able to build better relationships and interaction with other people, whether they're your colleagues or your clients.
