Paul Hemstreet: I was asked by one exec to write a pitch that she will forward to another exec. I'm working on balancing the pitch with the outreach letter.

  • Lead with how you can be valuable to them based on your past experiences and interests.
  • Use the gatekeeper approach with the story of where you are now, where you’re going next and how it’s valuable to their next initiatives.
  • Take a less is more approach. Position this as a conversation worth having, not a fully formed pitch that could be dismissed too early.
  • Let warmth, creativity, and empathy come through so the message feels like you, especially with such an emotional, values-driven topic.
