08: Be a Kid and Have Fun with Crossfit Cielo

Listen Later

Today we have David Kim and Bailey Wright, owners of Crossfit Cielo in Superior, Colorado. Dave is a former high school math and science teacher; and wrestling, cross country, and rowing coach.  Bailey competed as a gymnast for 13 years, where she consecutively placed in the top 5 in the All-around and Individual events at the State and Regional Championships.  Both hold several certifications including Crossfit level 1 and Crossfit kids.

Motivation:

DK's parents encouraged him from a very young age to try a bunch of different sports. Bailey was a gymnast for 13 years and also coached gymnastics while still competing.

Challenges:

DK suffered several injuries his senior year of college. He wasn't sure if he would ever fully recover and be able to do the stuff that he loved to do. After college, he gave up on fitness, gained weight, and lost a lot of muscle.  He didn't like the way he looked or felt.  That was when he decided to rediscover his fitness and learned that he had to be active with his recovery. One of the main ways DK got over his injuries was trying new things like charity 5k's and triathlons.  Bailey was a top level gymnast.  She was preparing to compete at a collegiate level when she completely tore up her foot.  After so many years of competing, gymnastics was all she knew.  Bailey had to make the tough decision to quit gymnastics. Bailey thanks her family and friends for encouraging her to get back into fitness and find something fun.

Passion for helping you:

DK and Bailey are there to take care of you and look after you.  DK has a client who was working out religiously but was still gaining weight.  After having her doctor run some blood work, she found out that she was at risk for diabetes and heart disease.  Six short months after training with DK, she had turned around her health markers and was feeling better than ever. Crossfit Cielo has people of all different fitness levels.  They try to foster a safe, injury-free environment where they encourage everyone to focus on flexibility and mobility as much as strength gains.

Nutrition:

DK and Bailey recommend eating real food as much as possible.  They use some SFH and Kill Cliff supplements when time doesn't allow for an actual meal.
