08 Realism Inception and Virtue in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar

Listen Later

08 "Honor in one eye and death i' th' other." Julius Caesar, Inception, Corruption and VirtueScholarch McLarney and Schoolman Fawcett, having discussed political realism, delve into Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, to see how the Bard looks at not just politics, but honor and the loss of virtue. We hone in on Cassius's corruption of Brutus and Anthony's manipulation of the masses as we take lessons from Shakespeare on how the "inception" of corrupting seeds grimly flowers when left unchecked. Rest assured, defence mechanisms are proffered. For full effect, follow along with a copy of the play or watch the video rendition on our YOUTUBE channel (link) Repeat if necessary.
