Stephen Melani is a name that resonates across Sydney’s vibrant events and entertainment landscape. Born and raised on the Northern Beaches, his journey began at the most grassroots level—organising and DJing house parties throughout the local area and beyond. I was there in the early days, providing the security detail that helped keep the show running—an experience that sparked a lasting friendship and deep admiration for the entrepreneurial spirit that was already taking shape. After completing his studies in Event Management & hospitality at ICMS Manly, Stephen began a steady ascent through the industry—cutting his teeth on under-18s festivals, performing in nightclubs across Australia, and eventually taking the stage internationally in Fiji, Italy, the UK, Ireland, and India.Today, he holds the position of senior event manager at Doltone House and owns several influential ventures: Soho Manly, Elite Events under-18s, Zuma in Double Bay, and Elite Events—a bespoke Sydney-based events company he built from the ground up. His résumé also includes time with the prestigious Navarra Group, where he refined his craft in some of the country’s top wedding venues.Stephen and I also share a proud Calabrian heritage—something he wears openly and unapologetically on his sleeve. It’s a cultural foundation that continues to shape his character, creativity, and commitment to excellence. In this episode, we reflect on the early days—throwing house parties, learning as we went, and laying the groundwork for what would eventually become careers in two very different but equally passionate industries. We talk about our roots, the values passed down from our Italian heritage, and the bold vision Stephen has for the future of events in Australia and beyond.Stephen’s story is one of precision, perseverance, and an unshakable passion for crafting unforgettable experiences. He is, quite literally, the architect of atmosphere—a man who has built a career on turning energy into art, and vision into legacy. From the beaches of Sydney to the world stage, this is the story of a local talent who rose through the ranks with determination, pride, and the unwavering spirit of the Northern Beaches behind him.
