Turning Readers Into Writers

080 - Interview with Grace Sammon, Author of The Eves

Listen Later

Grace Sammon published her debut novel in June 2020 and since then her life as a fiction author has gone from strength to strength.
In our conversation we talk about Grace’s journey to writing and the inspiration behind The Eves.

The Eves is about Jessica who, despite her flaws, is taken in and accepted by the women living in a nearby commune. The women range in age from 15 to 92 and each of them have life experiences to share with Jessica.

Grace and I discuss writing about women who, at first, are not particularly likeable, and whether or not readers will warm to such a character.

We also talk about Jessica’s love interest in the book and why it was important that Grace explore that side of her life.

We go on to explore Grace Sammon’s journey to publication and why she chose the route she did, and just how exciting the publishing world is at the moment.

Not only does Grace write but she hosts a radio show called The Storytellers, which was an unexpected adventure and one she loves.

Grace and I are both members of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association and we discuss the benefits of finding a community and using the network there.

We finish our conversation with Grace sharing how you can find out more about her online.
