In this very personal episode, Fred and I discuss the challenges we face while trying to raise a family as full time teachers. Is there such thing as work/life balance? Does being parents make us better teachers? We are blessed to have two healthy and curious boys and have an awesome support system of grandparents, aunts and uncles. However, we had a miscarriage after our eldest was born. That not only challenged our priorities as teacher parents, but made as take a deep look within and got us to really slow down. Could the stresses of being full time teachers have caused the miscarriage? How can you start a family if you’re so stressed with your teaching job?
We have a new show called “Our Parenting Bites”- Figuring Out How To Raise Happy, Successful Kids. Our goal is to strengthen the home school connection with our own experiences as teacher parents. We are by no means experts in any of this but want to offer some insight to help parents out there. We know how hard teachers work, so let’s get parents on board to ultimately bring meaningful learning experiences to our children! Perhaps you can refer parents to our show to help you! Topics- What is the Common Core?, Homework Help!, What is STEM?, What Did You Learn Today? Revamped. Stay tuned!
