By the time mid-life came around she knew this was her time to put a stake in the ground and write her debut novel.

She's now writing her ninth novel and says the best bit of advice she received was simply to get in the chair and write. You keep going until it's done.

Emma kindly shares her own way of managing her time between writing and family life, both now as a published author with deadlines and expectations, and when she was doing it herself and didn't have the space in her day to write.

It all comes down to boundaries.
