Over the years we’ve created a guidebook or maybe even a strict rulebook about who we are, who we aren’t, who it’s ok for us to be, and who it is most certainly not ok for us to be.
This can be both external—so who it’s ok and not ok to be in the world, society, communities you’re a part of, friendships, relationships, etc.
And internal—how we have to think, feel, and be in our own internal world and what we're available to experience and not experience.
We take on identities based on our culture, political affiliation, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, social conditioning, families, upbringing, education, friend groups, work, intimate relationships, etc.
And we spend a lot of resources (time, energy, money) on protecting that concept of self.
While we may take on a multitude of identities, we often get stuck in similar patterns and “shapes.”
When we can bring awareness to the patterns we’re embodying on a regular basis, we can explore whether or not they’re supporting us, and what might be more empowering patterns to live into so we can reshape our identities and therefore the results and reality we experience.
We’ll be exploring these concepts (and more) inside of the Technique of The Week—Identity Pattern Exploration™!
