The Temporal Lobe is situated behind the ear, which is handy because the primary objective for this part of the brain is auditory perception, such as, hearing. It also deals with most things associated with language, such as, speech and vision. If someone were to remove a random part of this area of the brain, you might lose the ability to understand letters or words for example.
