In Western culture there is a leaning toward mental logic being the end-all-be-all, but our minds and bodies are intrinsically connected; the brain sends signals to the body and the body sends signals to the brain.
Our experiences and perceptions leave an imprint on our nervous system that can affect our bodily functions. In this episode, we’ll explore what the mind-body connection is and how to create connection and relationship with the Gut Intelligence.
Body awareness can start to open a dialog between your mind and your body. It can help repair the mind-body split and connect us to our bodies’ intelligence. This allows us to tune into our nervous system, which means gaining a better understanding of our fear and trauma responses, social connection, emotional agility, and self-regulation.
In order to increase our nervous system flexibility, we must first become aware of our inner experiences before we can start to shift them. The Gut Intelligence is our feeling/sensing intelligence center, it’s what helps us to consciously or unconsciously react or respond to stimuli by how it feels. This is why it’s so important to cultivate a relationship with our inner landscape, so we not only notice the body’s cues but are able to decipher them as well.
