Marc was born into a non-practicing Jewish family. The subject of religion or spirituality never came up in his family so when he discovered a spiritual yearning within himself at the age of twenty, he was completely on his own. He graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and philosophy in 1994. While in college, he had become an avid practitioner of meditation and met his wife to be.       

He had become a serious yet self-taught student of Eastern Philosophy, particularly Zen and Dzogchen and had found the perfect career that would allow him to continue his studies while working.  In 1997, he trained at Johns Hopkins University Hospital to run sleep studies and he continued to work as a Registered Polysomnograph Technologist for the next 25 years.

The episode started with Marc narrating his experience from a magic-devoid existence up until seeking what life is all about (6:08). He states that our desires need to be released to experience our naturalness, our underlying essence (17:33). He adds that whatever makes us happy comes from the inside (21:38). 

He proceeds to explain Dzogchen (24:35) which is basically noticing what's happening in the moment. He then shares the  three foundations of every practice, which is found in his book (25:26). Dell mentions attachments as synchronistic (26:37) and proceeds to explain with his experience. Marc then shares his perspective (31:50).
