The two disciples on the road to Emmaus had given up hope and were leaving Jerusalem discouraged. Jesus, disguising himself, accompanied them along the way, listening to them.
After drawing them out and hearing their complaints and disappointment, he said to them, “How slow you are to believe.”
That’s our problem, too. We believe more in what we see, hear, and in what other people think than in what God says.
If God doesn’t do things the way we think He should, then we think everything is terrible. But God tells us, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are my ways your ways,” in Isaiah 55.
