In this raw and honest episode of All Can No Can’t, Jeff sits down with Angie Hawkins – coach and author of Running in Slippers – to talk about what it really takes to heal old wounds, stop playing the victim, and build a life that actually feels like yours.
Angie grew up with emotionally unavailable parents, a highly critical mom, and learned early on that perfectionism and overachieving were the only ways to avoid criticism. As an adult, that turned into corporate burnout, people-pleasing, emotional numbing, and chasing happiness through external things — a move to Hawaii, relationships, achievements, and “checking the boxes.”
When a breakup, grief, isolation, job fear, and a flooded condo all collided — and then COVID hit — Angie spiraled into hopelessness and attempted to end her life. She overdosed on anxiety meds, blacked out, and woke up in the hospital angry that she’d survived… until a friend told her, “It’s not your time.” That sentence changed everything.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, burned out, unhappy, or like happiness just isn’t “for you,” this episode is a lifeline.
