In this episode of WRLWND Radio, a pen that can identify cancer in 10 seconds, Huawei is now the second largest smartphone maker in the world and the cost for smartphone will continue to rise.

A new handheld device that is called MasSpec Pen can identify cancerous tissue in 10 seconds, according to scientists at the University of Texas.
They say it could make surgery to remove a tumour quicker, safer and more precise which they hope would avoid leaving any of the cancer behind.
Tests revealed that the technology is accurate 96 per cent of the time.
The way this works is by using the pen to touch on to a suspected cancer, it then releases a tiny droplet of water. Chemicals inside the living cells move into the droplet, which is then sucked back up the pen for analysis.
The pen is then plugged into a mass spectrometer - a piece of equipment that can measure the mass of thousands of chemicals every second. This equipment produces a chemical fingerprint that tells doctors whether they are looking at healthy tissue or cancer.
Huawei is second largest smartphone brand in the world
A report that came out in August indicated that Huawei was on its way to take Apple’s title as the second largest smartphone brand in the world. In the second quarter of 2017, Huawei shipped 38 million phones and Apple on the other hand shipped 41 million. Now Huawei a month after that report came out is at number two - beating Apple to take the number two spot.
A few years ago, the Huawei brand didn’t mean much at all outside of China. However, with devices like the Mate 8, Mate 9, and the Honor 5X, 6X, and 8 from Huawei’s Honor sub-brand, the company has developed a considerably stronger presence throughout the United States, Europe, and various other markets.
Huawei’s next major flagship smartphone is expected to be the Mate 10 which will be out on October 16.
Smartphone cost
This is the season of smartphones, Apple, Google, Huawei and others are releasing their new smartphones. But coming with these new releases is new pricing as well. It's no secret that smartphones are getting more expensive.
It wasn't that long ago when you can walk into a store, a brand-new iPhone or Galaxy for about $200 — but those days are all gone.
The iPhone 8, which is expected to launch at a special media event on Sept. 12, is widely forecast to have a starting cost somewhere between $1,000 and $1,200 — almost doubling the starting price of the current iPhone 7.

Epson announced recently a new short throw laser projector capable of producing a 10-foot display when placed just inches from the wall. The Home Cinema LS100 is limited to a 1080p resolution unlike Sony’s 4K short throw. But the Epson buys you that close-to-the-wall convenience for $3,000 vs. Sony’s $25k price tag. It comes equipped with HDMI ports and is bright enough to be used with the “lights on and the shades open,” according to Epson.
Epson claims its laser projection tech will last through at least 10 years’ worth of viewing, or about 20,000 hours.
The Home Cinema LS100 projector will be available to buy this Fall.
WhatsApp is gearing up to finally monetize its messaging app by charging large enterprise businesses for tools to better communicate with customers. WhatsApp will also offer a free app to small-to-medium sized businesses, though it hasn’t outlined the specific functionality of the app. The enterprise solution will allow global companies “to provide customers with useful notifications like flight times, delivery confirmations, and other updates”.
BMW says that it’ll have a total of 25 electrified vehicles in its lineup by 2025, with a full dozen of those being full-electric cars. These should have a usable range of up to 435 miles.
