Every day, 8 children in Australia are born with some form of Congenital Heart Defect. February is Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) awareness month, so in this bonus episode, Ashley goes through his very personal journey of being a Dad to a HeartKid and all the ups and downs that this involves. From the moment they learnt of his son’s Heart Problems, from a less than subtle doctor, right through to the constant feeling of anxiety and being on edge about the most mundane everyday things, Ashley is honest and frank about the reality and uncertantities that they face, but also the sense of perspective he has gained by being in such a tough situation.
If you are a parent of a HeartKid we hope you may be able to use this episode to share this with friends and family to give them a bit better understanding of what your everyday life may be like. Please feel free to reach out to us and share your story.
