1 Chronicles 27 & 28

Listen Later

In 1 Chronicles 27 & 28, the kingdom is organized and all the plans, materials, and people are ready to be passed on from David to Solomon. David stands to address the nation and make sure everyone knew and understood his heart and that it was after glorifying God and carrying forth God's will and God's alone. He made sure God got all the glory in every detail. Solomon was chosen by God to be the king who would follow David and Solomon was chosen by God as the one who would build the 1st Temple. David was given all the plans, materials, and hands that were needed to build it, but it was Solomon who was called to carry out the vision from there. David gives his son everything needed to carry forth God's plan, including beautiful fatherly encouragement. He encourages Solomon to know God personally and intimately first and foremost. To worship Him sincerely with his whole heart, soul, and mind. To seek the Lord above all and if he does, he will find the Lord. He reminds him to always take God seriously because He is God. He tells him to remain strong and courageous and to do the work God set out for him to do. He encourages him to not be afraid or discouraged in the labors for God because God is and will be with him in and through every step. His plans will come forth and be finished - completely and correctly - because He is God. This encouragement beautifully applies to all of our lives today as well as we continue to passionately pursue God and all He has laid out for each of our lives.
