1 Corinthians 4 Discussion

People will judge your leadership, your gifting, and your “vibe” all day long, but Paul says something that cuts through the noise: the Lord is the one who judges. We sit with 1 Corinthians 4 and talk about what it means to live as a faithful steward of the gospel when others size you up in shallow, fleshly ways. If you’ve ever felt pressure to perform for approval, this chapter brings relief and a sober reminder of who you actually answer to.

We also wrestle with Paul’s father language: “I became your father in Christ” and the call to “imitate me,” plus the tension in his warning about coming with a rod. We break down spiritual authority, loving discipline, and why correction can be an act of protection instead of a power trip. Along the way we highlight Timothy as a “faithful son” and what real Christian discipleship looks like when it’s lived out consistently enough that someone else can carry your ways in Christ.

Then the lens widens. Paul mentions angels, and that opens up a bigger biblical worldview where the church displays God’s wisdom to the heavenly realms. Humility, endurance, unity, and suffering are not wasted moments. They become a public witness, even when the world calls it foolish. And we keep coming back to one humbling question that belongs in every pride battle: “What do you have that you did not receive?”
