In Defense of Liberty

1: In Defense Of: The Scottsboro Boys

Listen Later

In the first full episode, hear the story of nine black teenagers who were falsely accused of rape by two young white women in 1931. In this case, the United States Supreme Court held for the first time that a trial conducted in state court violated the 14th Amendment due process clause by failing to adequately provide counsel.

This is the first episode in our 3-part series on the 6th Amendment right to counsel.
