In this introductory episode, Mara begins by introducing Lizzie, "griffs," and briefly discusses the rationale for adding another drop to the vast ocean of podcasts that exist in 2026. After a few reflections on the theme of resistance to speaking, Mercury, and the sign of Pisces, we begin to learn a bit about decans, 10-degree subdivisions of each sign in the zodiac, laying a bit of groundwork for listeners to follow along in subsequent episodes.

Mara Smith is an artist who enjoys playing at the intersections of mythic time, clock time, and synchronicity in mundane reality. An educator by trade and lifelong musician, under the musical project finfeather she blends genres to create a wide variety of songs, many of which are hymns to planets, archetypes, and the decans of the tarot. Her astrological self is currently materializing in a flirtatious experiment with an alter ego, Lizzie, a devoted student of timelord, Saturn. Mara brings Lizzie's griffs, or creations, to life through music, poetry, prose, contemplations and conversations with the many divine individuals she is fortunate to know in community near and far.
