Today’s discussion concerns a hotbed issue in New York City, the Climate Mobilization Act of 2019, also known as Local Law 97. With the initial deadline for gas emission reductions of at least 25% pending in 2025, many building and apartment owners are scrambling for ways to reduce their exposure quickly. The next wave of reductions starts in 2030 – with even greater penalties -- and by 2050, even prewar and new all-glass buildings have to be carbon neutral.
