The N of 1 miniseries continues, where we explore pharmacists that roll solo at work!
Today, we chat with Dr. Priyal Popat, a second-generation pharmacist, but first generation in her family in the US.
Her bio: As a research pharmacist, Priyal Popat strives to ensure a high level of care and accuracy to patients enrolled in clinical trials. After she graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy in the US, she joined Orlando Immunology Center as the pharmacist for the covid-19 vaccine trials; Some of her responsibilities include implementing protocols from sponsors according to state and federal regulations, Investigational Product (IP) preparation and maintaining IP accountability. In 2013 Priyal attained her Bachelor of Pharmacy in South Africa where she was born and raised. Her decision to pursue a career in pharmacy was influenced by her mother who is a pharmacist and an independent pharmacy owner. One of the things she found most appealing about pharmacy was the many different career paths you can take as a pharmacist. Before relocating to the US in 2017 she gained experience as a clinical pharmacist in rural parts of South Africa and spent 3 years as a community pharmacist. She believes that the best and fastest way to progress is to embrace opportunities that come your way and to always be learning, especially from your mistakes.
