1 Reyes 15: Mira bien a quién estás emulando.
1 Reyes 15:1‭-‬14 RVA2015

1 Kings 15: Take a good look at who you are emulating.

1 Kings 15 (ESV)
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah, 10 and he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom. 11 And Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as David his father had done. 12 He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. 13 He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother because she had made an abominable image for Asherah. And Asa cut down her image and burned it at the brook Kidron. 14 But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true to the Lord all his days.
In this chapter we see a contrast of two characters, two descendants of Rehoboam, two kings of Judah that the Bible records their different ways of reigning. We will also see these comparisons in different kings of Israel and Judah through the books of Kings and Chronicles.

In this chapter we see a contrast of two characters, two descendants of Rehoboam, two kings of Judah that the Bible records their different ways of reigning. We will also see these comparisons in different kings of Israel and Judah through the books of Kings and Chronicles.

Here we see that Rehoboam's son was a bad king, who followed his father's bad example. He followed his bad steps because it is common for a son to repeat his father's footsteps.
but he did not reign for many years and died after having reigned only 3 years.
We can say that Abijah failed as king and missed the opportunity that God gave him to have been a king that could have had a positive impact on Judah, the tribe that God chose to inhabit in the midst of His people.

In contrast, Rehoboam's grandson, Asa, succeeded his father, and this king, raised in the same way as his father, for apparently his grandmother Maacah named here as mother adopted him and raised him (possibly as Naomi did with the Ruth's eldest son), Asa did not look at his father's bad examples but looked at David, his great-grandfather, the one who lived a full life, except for the sin he committed against Urias. Asa was a king who did do things differently, he began to bring spiritual revival in Jerusalem and all of Judah. He made drastic decisions, removing every pagan idol from the land, and especially a disgusting image that his mother had set up. He even took away her position of honor and authority as queen mother, the woman who symbolized and promoted paganism. Asa understood that she had to be removed.
From then on Asa was a great king and reigned for many years.

The word emulate means: To imitate the actions of another trying to equal and even exceed them.
Today we can learn that it depends on us where we look, who we emulate. Whether in those parents and their mistakes or in some ancestor who did set a good example in the family. Or if you did not have a good example to follow, that is where it is important and vital that we look at our Lord Jesus Christ as our heavenly Father, who does not make mistakes, who is perfect, who gave us a perfect example of what it is to live in integrity in this world, and that you can live victorious lives.

I hope that today we can overcome those voices that tell you: "If my grandfather was drunk and my father too, then I will be that." "If he was a womanizer then so am I." "If I come from failed families then I will also fail at home."
That is one of the biggest lies of the adversary! If we are in Christ we are new creatures! the old, ancient things of the past are left behind, they are forgotten, because God does new things in us!
Today it breaks with those paradigms, with those ways of thinking, those conclusions are wrong and we are going to look at the reality, that in God we can break those chains of past generations.
Take action today. Identify that monstrous and abominable idol. Be it addictions, bad habits, or any evil customs. Begin to remove it from your life and your home. Remove all authority that is establishing anything immoral in the home and begin to restore and renew the spiritual and moral life of your home, begin to do the will of God in your life and that your children, the new generation begin to believe that God He does wonderful things through you. That they believe that history can be written differently if they look at good examples, that they know how to choose who they are going to emulate.

Are we following bad behavior patterns from a loved one who was an authority over us? Are we believing that we can change the history and the bad reputation of my ancestors?
Are we establishing a new lineage with well-established values and principles? What kind of virtues am I modeling for my generation? to my descendants?
