Israel is in a very difficult situation. The Philistine army outmatches Israel's in every way; they have more men, they are better trained, they have better technology, they have better weaponry. This is a hopeless situation for Israel, but God has a plan. When God wants to do a work, He seeks to accomplish that work through people. While we might be tempted to see Jonathan and his armor bearer as the hero of the story, the true hero is the Lord...the hero is Jesus. Faith in God brings about the victories of God by recognizing where He is already at work and seeking to join Him in accomplishing what He is currently doing. God seeks to accomplish His work through people, and this can include you! No matter where you are at in your relationship with Jesus, whether it is a bad relationship or a great one, it is time to take a step of faith in Him.
