In today’s reading, David and Jonathan meet at Naioth to discuss Saul’s intentions toward him, and the two make a covenant for David’s protection. When Saul declares his murderous intentions to Jonathan, David flees for his life, resorting to the priests for food (which Christ Himself references a thousand years later in the gospels), to seek shelter with their enemies in Gath.
Psalms 34 and 56 refer to David’s experiences while in Gath.
