1 Samuel 24:3-13 RVA2015:

En este capítulo vemos uno de los episodios más impresionantes de la vida de David. David se encontraba escondido en la cueva, huyendo de Saúl. Y en un momento inesperado, Saúl entró a esa misma cueva, sin saber que ahí estaba David escondido. Se voltearon los papeles. Ahora David es el que tenía la oportunidad, una en un millón, de tomar acción y vencer a su mayor enemigo, el que lo perseguía para matarlo. David estaba en todo su derecho de tomar acción y proteger su vida. David estaba en guerra y su adversario estaba a su alcance. Los problemas de David acabarían con una sola estocada. Él podría volver a su casa, a su familia, podría retomar una vida tranquila y próspera. Incluso, sus acompañantes usaron una palabra profética a David cuando Dios le dijo que le entregaría a sus enemigos en sus manos y que este era el momento que Dios le estaba dando para eliminar a Saúl. Así como en muchas ocasiones David fue instrumento de castigo para los filisteos, así mismo podría él ser el instrumento para castigar a Saúl y tomar el reino que tenía todo el derecho de tomar por voluntad de Dios y por la unción del profeta Samuel.
Sin embargo, David tenía temor de Dios. David tenía principios y valores fuertes y bien establecidos. Ante su propia comodidad y su propio beneficio, David sabía que Saúl era el ungido de Dios y no tomó acción para ejecutar a Saúl. David dejó al Señor esta tarea de quitar a Saúl de su camino, porque él nunca tocaría la vida del ungido por Dios. Aunque estaba cometiendo injusticia y pecado, David respetó la vida de Saúl y prefirió seguir huyendo, esperando a que Saúl desistiera en perseguirlo y cambiara de actitud o que Dios se lo quitara de otra forma.
David pudo tomar esta dura pero admirable decisión porque él era un hombre que se regía por sus valores y principios. David tenía un corazón sensible a la voz de Dios, ya que el Espíritu de Dios conmocionó a David y no le permitió que cometiera daño. David no razonó de manera humana para justificar esta acción. David demostró en la prueba que es un hombre de carácter firme, inamovible, exhibiendo una vida de integridad, honestidad y justicia. Sus hombres pudieron aprender a que es mejor que Dios obre a que uno mismo sea el que force las cosas en momentos de desesperación o bajo presión.
Hoy podemos aprender, como David enseñó a sus soldados, a que no debemos justificar alguna acción que vaya a lastimar la vida de alguien que nos haya lastimado. A que tengamos firme nuestras convicciones, que serán las que nos ayudarán a tomar la decisión más sabia y correcta en momentos donde debemos tomar una decisión pronta. Serán nuestros principios los que nos van a dar la calma en momentos de presión de los que nos rodean, que nos dan muchos consejos pero que no son claros en nuestra mente. Al final, el Espíritu de Dios es el que nos mostrará el camino y afirmará en nuestro corazón la decisión correcta que debemos tomar aunque contradiga las opiniones de nuestros seres queridos y amigos.
El camino más fácil es responder con la misma medida pero es mejor vencer el mal con el bien y no permitir que nuestro ego lastimado reaccione con venganza. Es mejor doblegar cualquier impulso humano de arrogancia y tener paciencia cuando veamos al Señor obrando a nuestro favor.
Esta actitud de David lo honró ante sus seguidores y trajo bendiciones a su familia. Honra al Señor viviendo una vida de integridad, y de esta manera serás un modelo de comportamiento a seguir para tus hijos y ellos aprenderán a confiar en el Señor y no en sus propias fuerzas.
Recuerda el consejo del apóstol Pablo en Romanos 12:19-21: “Amados, no se venguen ustedes mismos sino dejad lugar a la ira de Dios, porque está escrito: Mía es la venganza; yo pagaré, dice el Señor. Más bien, si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer; y si tiene sed, dale de beber; pues haciendo esto, carbones encendidos amontonarás sobre su cabeza. No seas vencido por el mal sino vence el mal con el bien.”

In this chapter we see one one of the most impressive episodes in David's life. David was hiding in the cave, fleeing from Saul. And in an unexpected moment, Saul entered that same cave, not knowing that David was hiding there. The papers were turned. Now David is the one who had the opportunity, one in a million, to take action and defeat his biggest enemy, the one who was chasing him to kill him. David had every right to take action and protect his life. David was at war and his adversary was within his reach. David's troubles would end with a single thrust. He could return to his home, to his family, he could resume a peaceful and prosperous life. His companions even used a prophetic word to David when God told him that He would deliver his enemies into his hands and that this was the moment that God was giving him to eliminate Saul. Just as on many occasions David was an instrument of punishment for the Philistines, in the same way he could be the instrument to punish Saul and take the kingdom that he had every right to take by the will of God and by the anointing of the prophet Samuel.
However, David was afraid of God. David had strong and well-established principles and values. For his own comfort and benefit, David knew that Saul was God's anointed and took no action to execute Saul. David left the Lord this task of getting Saul out of his way, because he would never touch the life of God's anointed. Even though he was committing injustice and sin, David respected Saul's life and preferred to continue running, waiting for Saul to give up his pursuit and change his attitude or that God would take Saúl away from him in another way.
David was able to make this hard but admirable decision because he was a man who lived by his values and principles. David had a heart sensitive to the voice of God, since the Spirit of God moved David and did not allow him to do harm. David did not reason in a human way to justify this action. David demonstrated in the test that he is a man of firm, immovable character, exhibiting a life of integrity, honesty and fairness. His men were able to learn that it is better for God to work than for oneself to force things in moments of despair or under pressure.
Today we can learn, as David taught his soldiers, that we should not justify any action that will hurt the life of someone who has hurt us. That we have our convictions firm, which will help us make the wisest and most correct decision at times when we must make a prompt decision. It will be our principles that will calm us down in moments of pressure from those around us, who give us a lot of advice but which are not clear in our minds. In the end, the Spirit of God is the One who will show us the way and affirm in our hearts the correct decision that we must make even if it contradicts the opinions of our loved ones and friends.
The easiest way is to respond with equal measure but it is better to overcome evil with good and not allow our hurt ego to react with vengeance. It is better to subdue any human impulse for arrogance and be patient when we see the Lord working on our behalf.
This attitude of David honored him before his followers and brought blessings to his family. Honor the Lord by living a life of integrity, and in this way you will be a role model for your children and they will learn to trust in the Lord and not in their own strength.
Remember the advice of the apostle Paul in Romans 21:19-21: “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

El camino más fácil es responder con la misma medida pero es mejor vencer el mal con el bien y no permitir que nuestro ego lastimado reaccione con venganza. Es mejor doblegar cualquier impulso humano de arrogancia y tener paciencia cuando veamos al Señor obrando a nuestro favor.
Esta actitud de David lo honró ante sus seguidores y trajo bendiciones a su familia. Honra al Señor viviendo una vida de integridad, y de esta manera serás un modelo de comportamiento a seguir para tus hijos y ellos aprenderán a confiar en el Señor y no en sus propias fuerzas.
Recuerda el consejo del apóstol Pablo en Romanos 12:19-21: “Amados, no se venguen ustedes mismos sino dejad lugar a la ira de Dios, porque está escrito: Mía es la venganza; yo pagaré, dice el Señor. Más bien, si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer; y si tiene sed, dale de beber; pues haciendo esto, carbones encendidos amontonarás sobre su cabeza. No seas vencido por el mal sino vence el mal con el bien.”

1 Samuel 24: When integrity and character is tested.
1 Samuel 24:3-13:

In this chapter we see one one of the most impressive episodes in David's life. David was hiding in the cave, fleeing from Saul. And in an unexpected moment, Saul entered that same cave, not knowing that David was hiding there. The papers were turned. Now David is the one who had the opportunity, one in a million, to take action and defeat his biggest enemy, the one who was chasing him to kill him. David had every right to take action and protect his life. David was at war and his adversary was within his reach. David's troubles would end with a single thrust. He could return to his home, to his family, he could resume a peaceful and prosperous life. His companions even used a prophetic word to David when God told him that He would deliver his enemies into his hands and that this was the moment that God was giving him to eliminate Saul. Just as on many occasions David was an instrument of punishment for the Philistines, in the same way he could be the instrument to punish Saul and take the kingdom that he had every right to take by the will of God and by the anointing of the prophet Samuel.
However, David was afraid of God. David had strong and well-established principles and values. For his own comfort and benefit, David knew that Saul was God's anointed and took no action to execute Saul. David left the Lord this task of getting Saul out of his way, because he would never touch the life of God's anointed. Even though he was committing injustice and sin, David respected Saul's life and preferred to continue running, waiting for Saul to give up his pursuit and change his attitude or that God would take Saúl away from him in another way.
David was able to make this hard but admirable decision because he was a man who lived by his values and principles. David had a heart sensitive to the voice of God, since the Spirit of God moved David and did not allow him to do harm. David did not reason in a human way to justify this action. David demonstrated in the test that he is a man of firm, immovable character, exhibiting a life of integrity, honesty and fairness. His men were able to learn that it is better for God to work than for oneself to force things in moments of despair or under pressure.
Today we can learn, as David taught his soldiers, that we should not justify any action that will hurt the life of someone who has hurt us. That we have our convictions firm, which will help us make the wisest and most correct decision at times when we must make a prompt decision. It will be our principles that will calm us down in moments of pressure from those around us, who give us a lot of advice but which are not clear in our minds. In the end, the Spirit of God is the One who will show us the way and affirm in our hearts the correct decision that we must make even if it contradicts the opinions of our loved ones and friends.
The easiest way is to respond with equal measure but it is better to overcome evil with good and not allow our hurt ego to react with vengeance. It is better to subdue any human impulse for arrogance and be patient when we see the Lord working on our behalf.
This attitude of David honored him before his followers and brought blessings to his family. Honor the Lord by living a life of integrity, and in this way you will be a role model for your children and they will learn to trust in the Lord and not in their own strength.
Remember the advice of the apostle Paul in Romans 21:19-21: “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
