Saúl se disfrazó poniéndose otra ropa, y fue con dos hombres. Llegaron de noche a la mujer, y él dijo: —Por favor, evócame a los muertos y haz que suba quien yo te diga. Pero la mujer le respondió: —He aquí, tú sabes lo que ha hecho Saúl; cómo ha eliminado del país a los que evocan a los muertos y a los adivinos. ¿Por qué, pues, pones una trampa a mi vida para causarme la muerte? Saúl le juró por el SEÑOR, diciendo: —¡Vive el SEÑOR, que ningún mal te vendrá por esto! Entonces la mujer preguntó: —¿A quién haré que suba? Él respondió: —Haz que suba Samuel. Al ver la mujer a Samuel, gritó fuertemente. Y la mujer habló a Saúl diciendo: —¿Por qué me has engañado? ¡Tú eres Saúl! El rey le dijo: —No tengas miedo. ¿Qué has visto? La mujer respondió a Saúl: —He visto un espíritu que sube de la tierra. Entonces él le preguntó: —¿Qué aspecto tiene? Ella respondió: —Sube un hombre anciano, envuelto en un manto. Saúl entendió que era Samuel, e inclinando el rostro a tierra se postró. Entonces Samuel preguntó a Saúl: —¿Por qué me has molestado haciéndome subir? Saúl respondió: —Estoy muy angustiado, pues los filisteos combaten contra mí, y Dios se ha apartado de mí. No me responde más ni por medio de profetas ni por sueños. Por esto te he llamado, para que me declares lo que tengo que hacer. Entonces Samuel dijo: —¿Para qué me preguntas a mí, puesto que el SEÑOR se ha apartado de ti y se ha vuelto tu adversario? El SEÑOR ha hecho lo que dijo por medio de mí, pues el SEÑOR ha quitado el reino de tu mano y lo ha dado a tu prójimo, a David; porque no obedeciste la voz del SEÑOR ni ejecutaste el ardor de su ira contra Amalec. Por eso el SEÑOR te ha hecho esto hoy. Además, el SEÑOR entregará a Israel y también a ti en mano de los filisteos. Mañana estarán conmigo, tú y tus hijos. El SEÑOR entregará también el ejército de Israel en mano de los filisteos.

Este es el capítulo trágico del final de la vida de Saúl. Un hombre que comenzó su vida lleno de temores y complejos, pero que Dios lo afirmó como rey de Israel. Un hombre que comenzó a creer las promesas de Dios y sus planes divinos, pero luego dejó que la confianza en sí mismo, la arrogancia y el orgullo arraigaran en su corazón. Además, Saúl pensó que podía hacer las cosas a su manera, incluyendo el buscar de Dios y hacer la voluntad de Dios como a él le placiera, no lo que Dios ordenaba por medio del profeta de Dios. Saúl imponía sus propias creencias y aplicaba de forma errónea la ley de Dios.
Esto hizo que se desviara de la verdad y viviera una vida solo de apariencia, una religión muerta que aparentaba una espiritualidad, cometiendo acciones como de una persona malvada. Desobedeció a Dios varias veces, por eso el Espíritu de Dios se apartó de él, entrando un espíritu malo para atormentarlo y usarlo en actos pecaminosos.
Su decadencia fue tan dolorosa y vergonzosa al punto que acudió a una médium para que usara sus artes tenebrosas para llamar a espíritus malos que imitaron a Samuel como si Samuel fuera el que estuviera hablando en esa reunión espiritista, y le estaban anticipando su destino.
Saúl consultó a Dios pero como no tenía un corazón humilde Dios no lo escuchó. Ya era demasiado tarde. Saúl había hecho cosas tan malas que ya era hora de que recibiera las consecuencias de su maldad. Tanto tiempo estuvo engañado en su propia opinión, nunca vemos a un Saúl arrepentido genuinamente por haber perseguido a David injustamente, ni cuando mandó a matar a los sacerdotes. Es más, él siempre pensó que Dios estaba apoyándolo.
Saul cosechó lo que sembró. Sembró muerte, terror y destrucción, y ahora le llegó el momento de cosechar eso mismo.
Este es un ejemplo de cómo Dios da la oportunidad a que alguien se arrepienta y desista de sus malos pasos, pero tampoco obliga a hacerlo. Él nos da el libre albedrío de hacer un alto en el camino y regresar a la senda de la verdad. Si Saúl hubiera desistido de sus planes egolatras, no hubiera abusado más de su poder, hubiera seguido los planes de Dios en vez de su propias convicciones, entonces posiblemente no hubiera sufrido este destino trágico.
Al final, los espíritus que tomaron lugar e imitaron a Samuel le dieron a Saúl la sentencia de muerte en la noche que sería su última por haber consultado a una hechicera. Curiosamente, cuando Saul pecó y transgredió el mandato de Dios, Samuel le dijo que la rebeldía y la obstinación son pecados semejantes a la idolatría y la hechicería. Saul perdió la gracia de Dios y el Espíritu de Dios ya no estaba con él cuando fue rebelde, y perdió su vida después de consultar a la hechicera. Se cumplió la advertencia y reprensión de Samuel.
Recordemos el consejo de Isaías 55:6: “¡Busquen al SEÑOR mientras puede ser hallado! ¡Llámenlo en tanto que está cercano!”
No esperemos hasta que sea demasiado tarde para nosotros. Saúl trajo maldición a su familia, pues sus hijos murieron en la batalla. Esas son las consecuencias de no valorar el llamado y la Palabra de Dios. Afecta al que menosprecia al Señor e indirectamente a su hogar.

Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” And he said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!” And the king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What did you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I saw a spirit ascending out of the earth.” So he said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is covered with a mantle.” And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed down. Now Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may reveal to me what I should do.” Then Samuel said: “So why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? And the Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David. Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”

This is the tragic chapter at the end of Saul's life. A man who began his life full of fears and complexes, but was affirmed by God as king of Israel. A man who began to believe the promises of God and His divine plans, but later on He let his self-confidence, arrogance and pride take root in his heart. Furthermore, Saul thought he could do things his own way, including seeking God and doing God's will as he pleased, not what God commanded through God's prophet. Saul imposed his own beliefs and misapplied God's law.
This caused him to stray from the truth and live a life of appearance only, a dead religion that masqueraded as spirituality, committing actions like an evil person. He disobeyed God several times, so the Spirit of God departed from him, entering an evil spirit to torment him and use him in sinful acts.
His decline was so painful and embarrassing to the point that he went to a medium to use her dark arts to call evil spirits who imitated Samuel as if Samuel was the one speaking at that spiritualist meeting, and they were anticipating his fate.
Saul consulted God but since he did not have a humble heart God did not listen to him. It was already too late. Saul had done such bad things that it was time for him to receive the consequences of his wickedness. For so long he was deceived in his own opinion, we never see a genuinely repentant Saul for wrongfully persecuting David, not even when he had the priests killed. What's more, he always thought that God was supporting him.
Saul reaped what he sowed. He sowed death, terror and destruction, and now the time has come for him to reap that very thing.
This is an example of how God gives someone the opportunity to repent and desist from their bad steps, but He doesn't force them to do it either. He gives us the free will to stop along the way and return to the path of truth. If Saul had given up his egotistical plans, had not abused his power more, had followed God's plans instead of his own convictions, then possibly he would not have suffered this tragic fate.
In the end, the spirits that took place and imitated Samuel gave Saul the death sentence on the night that would be his last for having consulted a sorceress. Curiously, when Saul sinned and transgressed God's command, Samuel told him that rebellion and obstinacy are sins similar to idolatry and witchcraft. Saul lost the grace of God and the Spirit of God was no longer with him when he rebelled, and he lost his life after he consulted the sorceress. Samuel's warning and rebuke was fulfilled.
Let us remember the advice of Isaiah 55:6: “Seek the LORD while He may be found! Call Him while He is near!"
Let's not wait until it's too late for us. Saul brought a curse on his family, as his sons died in battle. Those are the consequences of not valuing the call and the Word of God. It affects the one who despises the Lord and indirectly his home.

1 Samuel 28: You reap what you sow.
1 Samuel 28:11-19:
Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” And he said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!” And the king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What did you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I saw a spirit ascending out of the earth.” So he said to her, “What is his form?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is covered with a mantle.” And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed down. Now Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” And Saul answered, “I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may reveal to me what I should do.” Then Samuel said: “So why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? And the Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David. Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”

This is the tragic chapter at the end of Saul's life. A man who began his life full of fears and complexes, but was affirmed by God as king of Israel. A man who began to believe the promises of God and His divine plans, but later on He let his self-confidence, arrogance and pride take root in his heart. Furthermore, Saul thought he could do things his own way, including seeking God and doing God's will as he pleased, not what God commanded through God's prophet. Saul imposed his own beliefs and misapplied God's law.
This caused him to stray from the truth and live a life of appearance only, a dead religion that masqueraded as spirituality, committing actions like an evil person. He disobeyed God several times, so the Spirit of God departed from him, entering an evil spirit to torment him and use him in sinful acts.
His decline was so painful and embarrassing to the point that he went to a medium to use her dark arts to call evil spirits who imitated Samuel as if Samuel was the one speaking at that spiritualist meeting, and they were anticipating his fate.
Saul consulted God but since he did not have a humble heart God did not listen to him. It was already too late. Saul had done such bad things that it was time for him to receive the consequences of his wickedness. For so long he was deceived in his own opinion, we never see a genuinely repentant Saul for wrongfully persecuting David, not even when he had the priests killed. What's more, he always thought that God was supporting him.
Saul reaped what he sowed. He sowed death, terror and destruction, and now the time has come for him to reap that very thing.
This is an example of how God gives someone the opportunity to repent and desist from their bad steps, but He doesn't force them to do it either. He gives us the free will to stop along the way and return to the path of truth. If Saul had given up his egotistical plans, had not abused his power more, had followed God's plans instead of his own convictions, then possibly he would not have suffered this tragic fate.
In the end, the spirits that took place and imitated Samuel gave Saul the death sentence on the night that would be his last for having consulted a sorceress. Curiously, when Saul sinned and transgressed God's command, Samuel told him that rebellion and obstinacy are sins similar to idolatry and witchcraft. Saul lost the grace of God and the Spirit of God was no longer with him when he rebelled, and he lost his life after he consulted the sorceress. Samuel's warning and rebuke was fulfilled.
Let us remember the advice of Isaiah 55:6: “Seek the LORD while He may be found! Call Him while He is near!"
Let's not wait until it's too late for us. Saul brought a curse on his family, as his sons died in battle. Those are the consequences of not valuing the call and the Word of God. It affects the one who despises the Lord and indirectly his home.

Saúl se disfrazó poniéndose otra ropa, y fue con dos hombres. Llegaron de noche a la mujer, y él dijo: —Por favor, evócame a los muertos y haz que suba quien yo te diga. Pero la mujer le respondió: —He aquí, tú sabes lo que ha hecho Saúl; cómo ha eliminado del país a los que evocan a los muertos y a los adivinos. ¿Por qué, pues, pones una trampa a mi vida para causarme la muerte? Saúl le juró por el SEÑOR, diciendo: —¡Vive el SEÑOR, que ningún mal te vendrá por esto! Entonces la mujer preguntó: —¿A quién haré que suba? Él respondió: —Haz que suba Samuel. Al ver la mujer a Samuel, gritó fuertemente. Y la mujer habló a Saúl diciendo: —¿Por qué me has engañado? ¡Tú eres Saúl! El rey le dijo: —No tengas miedo. ¿Qué has visto? La mujer respondió a Saúl: —He visto un espíritu que sube de la tierra. Entonces él le preguntó: —¿Qué aspecto tiene? Ella respondió: —Sube un hombre anciano, envuelto en un manto. Saúl entendió que era Samuel, e inclinando el rostro a tierra se postró. Entonces Samuel preguntó a Saúl: —¿Por qué me has molestado haciéndome subir? Saúl respondió: —Estoy muy angustiado, pues los filisteos combaten contra mí, y Dios se ha apartado de mí. No me responde más ni por medio de profetas ni por sueños. Por esto te he llamado, para que me declares lo que tengo que hacer. Entonces Samuel dijo: —¿Para qué me preguntas a mí, puesto que el SEÑOR se ha apartado de ti y se ha vuelto tu adversario? El SEÑOR ha hecho lo que dijo por medio de mí, pues el SEÑOR ha quitado el reino de tu mano y lo ha dado a tu prójimo, a David; porque no obedeciste la voz del SEÑOR ni ejecutaste el ardor de su ira contra Amalec. Por eso el SEÑOR te ha hecho esto hoy. Además, el SEÑOR entregará a Israel y también a ti en mano de los filisteos. Mañana estarán conmigo, tú y tus hijos. El SEÑOR entregará también el ejército de Israel en mano de los filisteos.

Este es el capítulo trágico del final de la vida de Saúl. Un hombre que comenzó su vida lleno de temores y complejos, pero que Dios lo afirmó como rey de Israel. Un hombre que comenzó a creer las promesas de Dios y sus planes divinos, pero luego dejó que la confianza en sí mismo, la arrogancia y el orgullo arraigaran en su corazón. Además, Saúl pensó que podía hacer las cosas a su manera, incluyendo el buscar de Dios y hacer la voluntad de Dios como a él le placiera, no lo que Dios ordenaba por medio del profeta de Dios. Saúl imponía sus propias creencias y aplicaba de forma errónea la ley de Dios.
Esto hizo que se desviara de la verdad y viviera una vida solo de apariencia, una religión muerta que aparentaba una espiritualidad, cometiendo acciones como de una persona malvada. Desobedeció a Dios varias veces, por eso el Espíritu de Dios se apartó de él, entrando un espíritu malo para atormentarlo y usarlo en actos pecaminosos.
Su decadencia fue tan dolorosa y vergonzosa al punto que acudió a una médium para que usara sus artes tenebrosas para llamar a espíritus malos que imitaron a Samuel como si Samuel fuera el que estuviera hablando en esa reunión espiritista, y le estaban anticipando su destino.
Saúl consultó a Dios pero como no tenía un corazón humilde Dios no lo escuchó. Ya era demasiado tarde. Saúl había hecho cosas tan malas que ya era hora de que recibiera las consecuencias de su maldad. Tanto tiempo estuvo engañado en su propia opinión, nunca vemos a un Saúl arrepentido genuinamente por haber perseguido a David injustamente, ni cuando mandó a matar a los sacerdotes. Es más, él siempre pensó que Dios estaba apoyándolo.
Saul cosechó lo que sembró. Sembró muerte, terror y destrucción, y ahora le llegó el momento de cosechar eso mismo.
Este es un ejemplo de cómo Dios da la oportunidad a que alguien se arrepienta y desista de sus malos pasos, pero tampoco obliga a hacerlo. Él nos da el libre albedrío de hacer un alto en el camino y regresar a la senda de la verdad. Si Saúl hubiera desistido de sus planes egolatras, no hubiera abusado más de su poder, hubiera seguido los planes de Dios en vez de su propias convicciones, entonces posiblemente no hubiera sufrido este destino trágico.
Al final, los espíritus que tomaron lugar e imitaron a Samuel le dieron a Saúl la sentencia de muerte en la noche que sería su última por haber consultado a una hechicera. Curiosamente, cuando Saul pecó y transgredió el mandato de Dios, Samuel le dijo que la rebeldía y la obstinación son pecados semejantes a la idolatría y la hechicería. Saul perdió la gracia de Dios y el Espíritu de Dios ya no estaba con él cuando fue rebelde, y perdió su vida después de consultar a la hechicera. Se cumplió la advertencia y reprensión de Samuel.
Recordemos el consejo de Isaías 55:6: “¡Busquen al SEÑOR mientras puede ser hallado! ¡Llámenlo en tanto que está cercano!”
No esperemos hasta que sea demasiado tarde para nosotros. Saúl trajo maldición a su familia, pues sus hijos murieron en la batalla. Esas son las consecuencias de no valorar el llamado y la Palabra de Dios. Afecta al que menosprecia al Señor e indirectamente a su hogar.
