Samuel is called to be God's prophet. God calls Samuel multiple times in the night, leading to Samuel's recognition of God and the revelation of judgment upon Eli’s corrupt household. Meanwhile, Israel faces defeat by the Philistines and irreverently decides to bring the Ark of the Covenant into battle, but this attempt fails, resulting in a significant loss, the capture of the Ark, and the deaths of Eli's wicked sons. Upon hearing the devastating news, Eli himself falls and dies, marking the end of his era and fulfilling God’s prophecy. Like Samuel, we must truly know God, actively listen to His voice, and maintain reverence in our relationship with Him.
