August 1577. Lightning struck. Thunder rumbled. And a demonic black dog appeared in a Suffolk church, terrifying the villagers, and leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake. This was one of the earliest sightings of the mysterious beast that became known as Black Shuck. Was this vicious dog really a hound from hell, and if it’s not real, why is it still spotted across the country today?
