Title: Thrivology Lab? An introduction to the science, philosophy, and practice of thriving.
Date: 9/17/24
Name of podcast: Thrivology Lab
Episode title and number: Episode 1. Thrivology Lab? An introduction to the science, philosophy, and practice of thriving.
Brief summary of episode: Why Thrivology Lab? As we’ve watched more of our students, colleagues, and friends experience mental health challenges like anxiety and depression, we’ve worked the science, philosophy, and practice of thriving into our teaching. Dr. Phil Dunwoody, Professor of Psychology, and Dr. Neal Utterback, Professor of Theatre, teach courses about wellbeing and thriving at Juniata College. This episode introduces the podcast, our personal stories around wellbeing, and our approach to cultivating human thriving in ourselves and others. We argue that our relationship with wellbeing is fundamentally backwards. Instead of being an afterthought, we should prioritize a deliberate focus on wellbeing and thriving in our lives. This podcast is designed to help you lead a happier and healthier life.
