1 Timothy 3:8-10 Qualifications for Deacons

Deacons are to be

worthy of respect

Sincere

not indulging in much wine

not pursuing dishonest gain.

keep hold of the deep truths of the faith

with a clear conscience.

They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

This list seems to summarize the qualifications of elders earlier in the chapter, but as I previously indicated, without the "able to teach" requirement. I would be very reluctant to say "So it's okay if they have more than one wife, or if they're promiscuous, or have anger issues."
