1. Writing at 240 words per minute - The Open Steno Project

Listen Later

This is a recording of a presentation made to the Richmond New Technology Meetup Group 2 May 2017. Being a pilot episode, the audio quality isn't perfect - sorry.
Steno technology has existed for about a century, and has been compatible with computers for over 30 years, but until now the technology necessary to write at 240 words per minute has been restricted to professional stenographers. The Open Steno Project seeks to bring free software, low-cost hardware, and interactive learning tools to everyone who wants to use steno for their personal or professional pursuits. Ellis Pratt will tell us about his experience of using this technology, and his trials and tribulations of learning steno as a hobby.
